Silk Sheets

It was late. We all knew it and we were rushing as fast
as we could. It had been a hellish two weeks and this was the last day. Margaret
was worried about catching a flight back to her home in Kentucky... and she was
of course scared about what we were telling her was going to happen.
Finally the moment of truth was at hand. All the trust
that had been built in the relationship between myself and her paid off. She lay
on her back on the silk sheets of the bed, spread her arms in a Christ like
position and stared at us above her.. She was shaking because of fear and I had
to wait for her to stop. Finally she quieted and so did we. Joe gave me the .38
caliber revolver. Standing practically over her, I aimed it at Margaret. She
closed her eyes and waited, trembling ever so slightly. Then I quickly pumped
five shots into her chest. She bounced around a lot and there was blood
everywhere... The silk sheets were history, but we had expected that.
After it was over we did a couple more things while she
lay motionless on the bed. God she was a trooper right to the end.
